How Can I Relist an Auction on Municibid?

Relisting an auction on Municibid can occur for a variety of reasons, including unpaid invoices or technical issues. This article outlines the steps to relist auctions, explains the available tools for doing so, and provides insights into special conditions for relisted auctions.

Steps to Relist a Closed or Unsuccessful Auction

If your auction has ended and needs to be relisted, the following steps can help you:

  1. Create a New Listing by Using the List Similar Button:
    - Once an auction ends, its status cannot be reverted to live. However, you can transfer the closed auction to your drafts to preserve the original item information.
    - Use this option for auctions that have ended, but ultimately need to be relisted.
    - Simply click "List Similar" which will transfer your original listing into a new draft, where you can revise it and create a new listing with a new listing number.

  2. Use the 'Void and Relist' Button for Unpaid Auctions:
    - If the first bidder did not pay and you wish to relist the item, use the "Void and Relist" button. This action will:
    - Relist the item automatically by transferring it to drafts.
    - Remove the previous listing and cancel the associated invoice.

Auction Duration for Relisted Auctions under Special Conditions

Relisting durations can vary depending on the circumstances. While Municibid's standard auction duration is 7 to 14 days, exceptions are made for technical issues that prematurely close auctions. In such cases, a 48-hour relisting period is usually implemented. This ensures fairness by allowing impacted bidders a chance to participate.

  • Agencies managing auctions have the discretion to adjust the duration in similar unique cases.

Key Reminders and Policies

  • Items transferred to drafts retain the original auction details, making it easier to recreate the listing.

  • Using the "Void and Relist" button automatically removes the need for manual updates, streamlining the process.

  • Check for technical issues and confirm auction durations with your selling agency when necessary to ensure compliance and fairness.

By following the steps outlined above, you can effectively relist auctions, address common challenges, and maintain smooth interactions on Municibid.
