Defaults happen from time to time in the auction world. If a winning bidder stops responding, the Report button gives you a clear path to a smooth, efficient resolution.
When to report a bidder
Give the winning bidder 5 business days to respond to your payment and pickup email. If you still haven't heard back, it's time to report them. For tips on that first email, see Best Practices for Payment and Pickup After Your Auction Ends.
How to report a bidder
Go to My Municibid and select Successful under Listings.
Find the item and click Report next to it.
What happens next
Right away: The bidder receives a violation notice giving them 2 days to contact you to arrange payment and pickup. You'll also get an email outlining the next steps.
After 2 days: Municibid emails you to ask whether the issue was resolved. Click Yes if the bidder completed the sale, or No if they didn't.
If you click No: You can choose one of two options.
Offer the item to the second-highest bidder. Municibid reaches out to them on your behalf and keeps you updated.
Relist the item.
What happens to the bidder
Municibid has a zero-tolerance policy for bidders who don't complete their purchase. Whichever option you choose, the original winning bidder is banned from Municibid, and the buyer's fee they paid is not refunded. Municibid can also detect when a banned bidder tries to return under a different name or account.
